Relative clauses allow us to combine two sentences and add details about a noun without starting a new sentence. We use relative pronouns to connect them.

Use 'who' when talking about people. For example, 'The man who lives next door is friendly.' Use 'which' when talking about things or animals. For example, 'The car which is parked outside is mine.'

You can often use 'that' instead of 'who' or 'which' in defining relative clauses (clauses essential to the meaning). 'The car that is parked outside' is also perfect. Use 'where' to describe a place. For example, 'That is the hospital where I was born.'
