Level 1: Foundations of Complex Writing
Level 2: Expanding Sentence Range
Level 3: Cohesion and Flow
Level 4: Advanced Structures
Level 5: Mastery and Exam Practice
Build the essential sentence structures for academic writing. Learn to combine ideas using subordination, coordination, and basic complex sentences.
Level 1 teaches the sentence structures every strong IELTS and PTE essay is built from. Most test-takers write almost entirely in simple sentences, which caps their Grammatical Range score at band 5 or 6. This level fixes that at the source: you learn to join ideas correctly so your writing reads naturally and your grammar stays accurate under exam pressure.
You will master complex sentences using subordination — sentences with an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses — and compound sentences using coordination. Along the way you will meet relative clauses, participle clauses, conditionals, inversion, and cleft sentences, each with clear rules, worked examples, and hands-on exercises.
Each chapter pairs a plain-language explanation with model sentences and structured practice. The goal is not memorising grammatical terminology; it is internalising patterns you can produce automatically on test day. When you finish this level, you will be able to write varied, accurate sentences — the foundation for every band 7+ essay.
