The test asks a single question about each sentence: does it continue the same subject as the sentence before, or does it shift to something new? When transition words, pronouns, and explicit markers are absent, this test is your ordering tool. A sentence that presupposes a topic introduced in an earlier sentence cannot come first. A sentence that introduces a brand-new subject mid-paragraph, without connecting it to the existing topic, likely belongs elsewhere.

Consider a paragraph about neuroplasticity with no pronouns, no article shifts, and no connectors. Sentence B defines neuroplasticity. Sentence D discusses its prominence in children. Sentence A discusses its presence in adults. Sentence C discusses rehabilitation applications. Even without a single grammatical marker, the topic chain tells you the order: define the concept, discuss one population, discuss another, apply the findings. The topic continuity across sentences, each building on the same subject, reveals the logical flow.

When pronouns become ambiguous, predicate-based disambiguation resolves the reference. If two sentences both begin with "It" and each "It" could refer to either of two nouns in a preceding sentence, you examine the verb phrase that follows "It" and ask which candidate antecedent is logically compatible with that action. A pronoun that "exhibits tensile strength" must refer to a material, not a theory. A pronoun that "predicts emotional resilience" must refer to a framework, not an institution. The predicate acts as a semantic filter that narrows the field of candidates to one.

When you cannot achieve full certainty, the triage protocol locks in confirmed adjacent pairs first. The scoring system rewards points for each correctly placed adjacent pair, not for solving the entire puzzle. The final piece is the validation pass: a fifteen-second three-point audit that catches residual misplacements before you submit. You read the complete sequence and check three things: does every "this," "these," and "such" have a clear antecedent in the immediately preceding sentence? Does the paragraph move in one logical direction without sudden topic jumps or reversals? Does each sentence connect to the next without requiring the reader to mentally insert missing information? If any check fails, the order needs adjustment.
