To make a sentence negative in the Present Simple, we need a helper word. We use 'do not', which shrinks to 'don't', or 'does not', which shrinks to 'doesn't'.

Use 'don't' with I, You, We, and They. Use 'doesn't' with He, She, and It. The most important rule: when you use 'doesn't', the main verb goes back to its base form. We lose the 's'. For example, 'She likes tea' becomes 'She doesn't like tea'.

To ask a question, we use the same helpers at the start of the sentence. Use 'Do' for I, You, We, They. Use 'Does' for He, She, It. For example, 'Do you like tea?' or 'Does he play tennis?'.
